YOU WILL NEED
+ YOUR BUCKET +WATER
+ AN OLD SAUCEPAN
+ YOUR MIXING SPOON
+ DYE 50ML
+ A GARMENT TO DYE

OPTIONAL EXTRA
+ 1-2 TABLESPOONS OF TABLE SALT
METHOD
Fill an old saucepan with enough water to cover your garment.
​
Bring the water to a gentle boil
​
Add Mulberry Green natural dye powder.
Leave simmering until dye has fully dissolved.
Do not leave boiling water unattended and top up water if you notice significant evaporation.
Mix the dye with your wooden spoon.
The dye is now ready for your pre-soaked garment.

Remove your bound garment from your soaking bucket and wring it out (make sure your resists are firm) to remove excess water,
​
Place into dye pot on low heat, making sure the whole garment is submerged.
​
Dye for 20 mins on low temp then remove pot from the hotplate and leave the garment in the dye to cool.
Remove from the pot and rinse.
​
Take off your resist binding, clamps etc and wash well with dishwashing liquid to clean but not fade your dyed garment,.
​
Dry in the shade and enjoy your new green naturally dyed garment!

TIPS & TRICKS
​
+ Add a tablespoon of salt to help the dye absorb into the fibre.
​
The dye remaining in the pot is reusable while there is still colour in the pot.
​
This is safe to pour down your sink when complete.
